Summary

Public: Globular teapot with crabstock handle and spout. Cream coloured earthenware body sponged with blue-grey underglaze oxide, bleeding into lead-glaze to give mottled effect. Private: Globular teapot on everted footring, with slight collar to neck, and crabstock handle and spout. Body decorated on each side with applied relief twisting vines embellished with stamped leaves and fruit, in the centre of which sits small infant bacchante. Cream coloured earthenware body sponged with blue-grey underglaze oxide, bleeding into glaze to give mottled streaky effect. Reliefs picked out in gilt, traces also remaining on handle and spout. Flat circular cover with crabstock handle and two applied relief leaves, decorated in mottled blue-grey, small pierced hole in centre.
