Summary

Public: Figure of a bull, cream coloured earthenware, with mottled and streaked decoration of underglaze manganese brown and green oxides bleeding into lead glaze. Private: Two-part press-moulded earthenware figure of a bull, standing on flat undulating shaped base with relief-moulded textured surface, with head turned to the right and tail sweeping round left hind quarters. Cream coloured earthenware body sponged with manganese brown underglaze oxide, bleeding into glaze to give mottled streaky effect. Deep green base, black in places with brown patch beneath bull's belly, possibly where lead glaze has dripped during firing.
