Summary

Pear-shaped coffee pot on three mask and paw feet, with crabstock handle and heavy gnarled spout. Applied relief undulating vines to either side of body, embellished with applied sprigged and stamped leaves, flowers and fruit. Cream coloured earthenware body sponged with manganese brown underglaze oxide, bleeding into glaze to give mottled pattern, dry patches around lower body where glaze has failed revealing sponged and spattered oxide. Shallow domed circular cover with bird finial, flattened rim, and applied stamped leaf and fruit reliefs, decorated in mottled brown, with small pierced hole beneath bird's tail.
