Summary

Public: Candlestick in the form of a gnarled tree trunk on tall mound base with bird perched on small stump to one side, cream coloured earthenware, decorated with underglaze brown, green and blue oxides bleeding into lead glaze. Private: Press-moulded candlestick in the form of gnarled and twisting tree trunk with relief-moulded trailing plants and six applied relief flowerheads at intervals. Nozzle relief-moulded in form of three overlapping leaves with shorter leaves at base providing narrow drip pan. Tall mound base of irregular circular shape, relief moulded with trailing plants, textured bark and moss, with second small tree stump to side of candle stem surmounted by large bird. Cream coloured earthenware, coloured with manganese brown, copper green and cobalt blue underglaze oxides, colours all bleeding into lead glaze.
