Summary

Public: Cylindrical tea caddy with straight sloping shoulder. Made of ream coloured earthenware and transfer-printed in overglaze in black with scenes of 'Tea Party' and 'The Shepherd'. Private: Cylindrical tea caddy with recessed foot, straight sloping shoulder and short narrow neck. Transfer-printed in overglaze black on one side, with scene of 'Tea Party No.1', comprising lady and gentleman seated on garden bench before small tea table, gentleman stretching hand towards black servant carrying kettle to left, dog sitting at lady's feet to right, foliage in background. Opposite side printed with 'The Shepherd', shepherd boy leaning against tree on grassy mound with crook in left hand, dog and three sheep in foreground to left, river and cottage in background to right. Pale cream coloured earthenware body, with fine greenish black-speckled glaze. Cover missing.
