Summary

Public: Cylindrical teapot made of cream coloured earthenware. Painted in red, green and black overglaze enamels with a large spray of roses with smaller sprays and scattered sprigs. Private: Cylindrical teapot, with concave shoulder and straight turned rim. Double-intertwined ribbed strap loop handle with flower-and-leaf terminals, and plain tapering S-shaped spout. Side to left of handle painted in red, green and black enamels with large spray of roses, smaller spray on opposite side, with small scattered sprigs surrounding handle and spout. Handle terminals and spout rim picked out in green. Shoulder painted with diamond diaper border in black and red, interrupted by four short panels enclosing simple leafy sprays, and surmounted by single scalloped band. Shallow domed cover with flattened rim, painted with repeated diaper and leafy panel border. Central flower finial with applied relief budding terminal, petals and leaves picked out in green. Small pierced hole to one side. Pale cream coloured body with fine yellowish glaze.
