Summary

Public: Mug, white earthenware with a pearlware glaze, printed overglaze in pale purple with figure of a man in a landscape beside inscribed tablet, handle and rim picked out in overglaze blue enamel. Private: Cylindrical mug with slightly everted rim, recessed base and squared loop handle curving downward to lower terminal. Transfer-printed overglaze on side opposite handle in pale purple, with figure of a man in a landscape standing beside stone tablet to right, inscribed 'A Little Health / A Little Wealth / A Little House / And Freedom / And at the end / A Little Friend / And Little cause / To need him.' Rim edged in blue enamel, handle detailed with simple blue anthemion motif. Blue pearlware glaze.
