Summary

White silk satin. Strip of white satin ribbon gathered onto stitched satin stays centre front, centre back and sides, with satin ribbon straps and holes at centre back for lacing. Belonged to Heather Firbank (1888-1954), the daughter of the affluent MP, Sir Thomas Firbank. This garment came to the Gallery via the Victoria and Albert Museum, which has many others of her dresses.
