Corner of Cafe Verrey
Charles Maresco Pearce 1874 - 1964
Summary
Impressionistic view of Cafe Verrey on Regent Street, London. The painting focusses on a small table in one corner of the cafe. A tall mirror between two pillars behind the table reflects the ornate pendant light fitting above, and the tall sash window with stained glass panels to the right. The table has a jug of water on top of it as if about to be inhabited. The colours are fresh and bright, indicating there is a strong light flooding in from the window, this causes the room to glow in yellow and gold. Outside the window is a traditional globe street lamp.
