Creech Barrow, Dorset

Evelyn Cheston 1875 - 1929

Summary

A highly coloured landscape painting depicting Creech Barrow in Dorset. There is a river running between two rocky verges, with a landscape of fields, hills and trees extending towards the background of the painting. The landscape is depicted in such lively coloured tones that there is the impression of full sunlight being cast on the scene, this is accentuated by the dramatic shadows falling on the rock face towards the background of the painting. The sky contains rounded, full clouds and the landscape contains many textures and varied tones of brown and green representing lush, fertile countryside.
