Summary

Originally man's waistcoat of c.1840. Shaded silk, pink to purple, woven with bands of shaded plush and black velvet. Cotton back, lining of brown cotton twill. High neck, fastenig with eight silk-covered buttons. Two pockets. Leather facing to hem inside fronts stamped: 'D Cleet Tailor'. Altered by gathering at CB at waist and addition of sleeves in striped blue, white and black cotton.
