Summary

A scene of a young man and woman seated on a wooden bench in a once grand sitting room with a high arched window behind them. The scene now, however, is one of poverty, with old thin curtains hanging at the window, and the room empty apart from wooden bench on which the boy and girl sit. A bare wintry tree is visible through the window and gives a desolate air.
