Summary

Courtesan wearing patterned kimono and sedge hat walking towards the left, subject has dark hair tied up in a bun. A little boy walks behind her. In 1764 the full colour print was invented and Harunobu took advantage of this new technique. He focused on the subject of youth in daily life, whom he captured intently absorbed in an everyday activity, unconscious of the viewer. His aim was to present the transient scene of daily life in its own beauty with all its inherent dignity.
