Summary

Public: Pair of oviform lidded vases, stoneware, solid white jasper with green dip and white relief decoration of 'Apollo and the Nine Muses'. Private: Oviform vase with narrow neck and flared rim, and spreading foot on square pedestal, all decorated with a sage green jasper dip. Pedestal edges reserved in white, white relief anthemion border along sides. Foot decorated with white acanthus border round outer edge and beaded border at junction with body. Main body decorated in white relief with classical scene of 'Apollo and the Nine Muses', each shown with their attributes. Lower body below decorated with border of radiating acanthus leaves and simple leafy stems, shoulder above with honeysuckle flowers alternating with large acanthus leaves. Two bearded satyrs' heads in high relief on shoulder, horns linked together to form loop handles. Plain neck with flared rim decorated with tongue border. One vase has green dipped lid with spherical finial and radiating leaves.
