Summary

Public: Amphora shaped vase with spreading foot on a square plinth. Stoneware, pale blue jasper with relief decoration on the body with 'An Offering to Peace'. Private: Amphora shaped vase with flat shoulder and spreading foot on elaborate square plinth with concave sides and chamfered corners, all in pale blue jasper. Relief decoration of palm leaves along plinth sides, acanthus at the corners. Foot of vase has outer border of overlapping leaves, beaded band at junction with body. Body decorated with 'An Offering to Peace' consisting of two groups of women and children amongst trees, one accompanied by a small goat, lower body below decorated with radiating palm leaves, guilloche border at shoulder above. Narrow neck with flared rim and decoration of palm leaves and single vertical stems, bound together round neck by band of hand-rolled beads. Acanthus border to neck rim, two solid white loop handles coiling upwards from paterae at rim, terminating at shoulder in three leaf-like feet. Small domed cover with white band around spherical finial.
