Summary

Woollen fabric, woven in small check in brick-red and white. Crown shaped on sparterie foundation, oval top, with pointed end at front, and slightly dented to centre, join, following line of crown , inside edge. Brim, turning down all round, bound at edge with underbrim of dull red felt. Trimmed with felt band knotted at back. Lining of black silk, inner band of black corded silk ribbon, with cord elastic to pass across back of head.
