Summary

White cotton with embroidery. Five shaped panels with drawthread in back half; 22.9cm flared frill embroidered with large flowers and with inset lace band and scalloped edge with lace frill, lined with three layers of frill, two lace edged and the inmost one of stiffened cotton. The garment belonged to Heather Firbank (1888-1954), the daughter of the affluent MP, Sir Thomas Firbank. This outfit came to the Gallery via the Victoria and Albert Museum, which has many others of her dresses.
