Summary

Two piece day dress in brown wool with beaded figured green silk panels to the bodice. Bodice; fronts each in 1 section, boned. Trimmed with green silk in fine narrow pleats and brown silk ribbon. Appliqued beadwork in a floral pattern. 2 boned triangular sections either side of centre front. Fastens centre front to a high standing collar with 19 hooks and eyes. Silk frill trim at back of collar. Back bodice; in 3 sections, boned. Bodice lined in silver and cream striped cotton. Long puffed sleeves; each in 2 sections. Cuffs trimmed in green silk and brown silk ribbon. Section of fabric falls over sleeve puff, trimmed with brown sik ribbon and appliqued beadwork. Separate skirt; in 3 sections. Fastens centre back with 2 hooks and eyes. Hidden pocket in back seam. Hem edged with brown woollen braid. Skirt lined with brown stiffened muslin. Inside hem lined with green and red shot silk. Small hat in brown velvet with curled feather and ostrich feather trim, cut lace on the crown, and gathered pink velvet trim with black stitched edging at the top. Long brown velvet ties. Lined black silk with gold stamped label: James Lowe, Modes, 13,15,17,19 Oldham Street, Manchester.
