Summary
In the centre is the river Irk, and in its shallow waters are three boys chasing ducks. On the left is the large medieval stone building that is Chetham's College, Manchester. On the right is a path on which promenade well-dressed people. Behind them, in the distance, are industrial buildings with smoking chimneys. The engraving has been coloured by hand, with red, yellow, pink and green as prominent colours.
