Summary
A view from Oxford Road of the Whitworth Hall of the University of Manchester. Men are mending the road in front of the hall: they are shovelling hard, and have a fire going. Beside them, two men in loose suits and trilbies stand on the corner of Dover Street. To the left, a man in uniform directs a goods lorry along the street. The etching has a dark, scratchy quality, which brings out the (Victorian) gothic nature of the architecture.
