Summary

Black silk jersey cocktail dress with 1930s Art Deco inspired clips to collar and belt; very wide turn-down collar and long revers to v-front; horizontal waist with bodice gathered in; huge trumpet sleeves; woven label on inner side seam 'Christian Dior, Paris'. Bought from the Dior haute couture shop in Paris by Marie Luise Schuchmann and worn with a camel coloured wool evening coat with loosely knotted belt and similar trumpet sleeves (see photos). See 2008.228 for suit from same collection, also worn by Ms Schuchmann.
