Cottage in a Landscape
David Teniers The Younger 1610 - 1690
Summary
Teniers has painted with great detail this simple subject of two figures outside a cottage. He is well known for his accurate depiction of objects, seen here in the bottom right corner where a copper bucket glistens in the light. A more humorous detail is the smiling man who peers out of the doorway. He is echoed by the pig which peeks out of its hut to chew on a carrot.
