1/2 length group portrait of a man and woman with a girl, a boy and an infant. Family portrait. The woman is seated with the infant in her arms, she has a fringe of tight curls and her hair is worn in a twisted chignon on top of her head, she wears a striped day dress with a fitted, boned bodice and full length fitted sleeves. Her bodice has a standing collar and pleated silk down the centre front with 2 pleats either side with rows of buttons. The infant is wearing a white gown. The man is seated beside the woman with the boy leaning on his shoulder and the little girl on his knee. He has receding hair and a long, styled moustache. He is wearing a suit jacket and a waistcoat with a standing collar and a white necktie tied in a knot with a pin and he has a handkerchief in his top pocket. The boy wearing a sailor type suit. The girl has centre parted wavy hair, she is wearing a dress with a velvet bodice and gathered silk sleeves. She has a wide lace white collar and a locket round her neck. Outdoor scene possibly taken in a garden. Written on reverse in pencil 'Duke and Duchess of Connaught / Prince Arthur / Princess Margaret / Princess Victoria Patricia / Late 1880s.'
