Summary

Study of a nude male. Viewed from behind, the subject is seated with his left leg raised and foot resting on a stool; he holds onto his left knee with his right hand. His left arm reaches behind and leans on a low table as he sits against a deep red interior background.

In preparation for these exhibited works he produced countless studies in oil paint of models, both male and female. On the reverse of this example are two unfinished studies of female nudes.
