Queen's Park Mill, Hendham Vale, Manchester

Queen's Park Mill, Hendham Vale, Manchester

Summary

Printed invitation ticket for a tea party, to be held on the evening of January 1st, 1852. The ticket is now in poor condition, but the illustration can still be clearly distinguished. It shows a five-storey industrial mill building, with a smoking chimney, surrounded by outbuildings and a row of workers' cottages. A large covered vat, with what appears to be a weighted pulley system, perhaps to raise and lower its lid, is a noticeable feature in the mill yard. The mill has a valley setting, and the slope of Hendham Vale rises steeply on the right. Small figures going about their business populate the scene.
