Summary

Public: Figure of Peace burning the instruments of war. White earthenware with a pearlware glaze, painted in pale pink, yellow, red, turquoise, purple, brown, blue and green overglaze enamels. Private: Figure of Peace holding a burning torch to a pile of weapons including sword, axe, shield, quiver of arrows and helmet at her feet to left, olive branch held in her left hand. Classical drapery comprising white dress patterned with red dashes and blue spots and hemmed with turquoise, pale yellow and purple cloak over her left shoulder, green laurel wreath in her hair. Pile of weapons painted in brown and grey, torch in brown and red, olive branch in green and brown. Plain white square plinth with single brown band around sides. Finely crazed pearlware glaze.
