St Alban's Abbey, Hertfordshire
Summary
The view from a country road leading to St. Alban's Abbey. A mounted figure pauses on the road in a small clearing, looking down onto the dense surrounding forest. Standing above the skyline on the left, is the structure of St. Alban’s Abbey, bathed in distant orange light. Further into the expansive distance lies more forest and rising hills to the right. Through the middle ground, a wide river can be seen in the middle of the forest. The trees on the left and right of the foreground path help frame the grand view ahead. The greens of the forest and distance are tinted with pale orange light, and next to the path is a milestone denoting one mile left to the Abbey.
