Summary

Public: Teapot and cover, hard paste porcelain, moulded mask on spout with Chinoiserie scenes in enamel colours with floral decoration. Private: Teapot and cover, hard paste porcelain. Pear-shaped body has plain loop handle with palmette terminals and curved spout, moulded at the base with a grimacing mask. High neck with two raised bands beneath everted rim, domed cover with turned, pointed knop. Painted in iron red, dull green, mauve and brown enamel colours with large scale Chinese figures in a continuous landscape, a dragon and a fantastic bird on the lid. Delicate floral spray on the handle. Borders of scrolls and small flower heads.
