Summary

Public: Teabowl and saucer, soft paste porcelain, transfer-printed overglaze in black with a milkmaid scene. Private: Teabowl : deep body, tapered footring with slightly everted rim, transfer printed over-glaze, black, exterior. Milkmaids depicts one milkmaid, right, pail on head, man, standing between them, assisting second milkmaid with her pail. Distant left, one dog lying and two cows grazing, cottage amongst trees. Herdsman shows man with long staff standing behind large bull, second bull lying on ground to right, third bull in background to left amongst trees. Swan vignette inner well. Enamelled overglaze black band inner rim. Saucer : tapered footring printed with Milkmaid scene, hayrick and tree with ladder in background to right replacing cottage. Bottom right, Hancock fec. Enamelled overglaze black band inner rim.
