Summary

Public: Teabowl, soft paste porcelain, transfer printed overglaze in black with milkmaids and milkmaid and calf in rural landscape. Private: Teabowl with slightly tapered footring and everted rim transfer printed overglaze with two sides on opposite sides of bowl exterior. One scene depicts The Milkmaids showing one milkmaid carrying a pail on her head and another milkmaid being helped with her pail by a man. Behind them to the left is a cow grazing with a distant cottage amongst the background trees, to the right is a hayrick, in front of a tall tree. The other scene shows a milkmaid with a calf in front of a small thatched building by a tree. Beside her is a larger cow, to the left is a distant tree and building. Swimming swan vignette inside bowl, enamelled overglaze black band inner rim.
