Summary

Public: Teabowl, soft paste porcelain, transfer-printed overglaze with garden scenes. Private: Teabowl, tapered footring, slightly everted rim, transfer-printed overglaze, black. Tea Party No.2 depicts man and woman seated on elegant bench, she passes teabowl and saucer to him, sword at his right. Front left laden pedestal table, distant left tree, garden landscape. Urn and Balustrade shows formal garden, ornate urn surmounting pedestal at end of balustrade. Foreground centre, inscription, R.Hancock. fecit, flanked left by tree, right, mass of foliage. Distant right fountain, row of trees amongst wooded landscape. Swimming swan vignette inside well. Enamelled overglaze black band inner rim.
