Summary

The floor covering is faintly dappled. On the left hand side there is an upholstered chair on the back of which the woman rests her right hand. The woman's hair is tied back under a black pillbox hat worn towards the front of her head. She is wearing drop earrings. The turned down collar of a blouse is visible beneath a short black double-breasted paletot which is decorated on the shoulders with embroidery and fastened up the front with buttons. Beneath this the woman is wearing a full mid-coloured silk skirt featuring a peplum with a scalloped edge and a ruched hem. The woman is wearing dark coloured leather gloves.
