Public: Teabowl and saucer made of soft paste porcelain, transfer-printed overglaze, in black, with tea drinking and rural scenes. Private: Teabowl: slightly tapered footring, everted footring, transfer-printed overglaze, black. Exterior of bowl has two prints. Tea Party no 3 shows elegantly dressed man and woman sitting either side of circular pedestal table on high back chairs. She, on right, drinks from teabowl and holds saucer under table, he, on left, drinks from handled cup. Table laden with tea and chocolate ware. To right tree, distant fountain. Left, flowering shrub. Garden landscape. Maid and Page no 1 shows maid, on right, and black page, walking to right through garden landscape. She holds tray, he carries kettle. Left, tree, branches spread over scene. Inside well transfer-printed overglaze, black, swimming swan. Enamelled overglaze black band inner rim. Saucer : Transfer-printed overglaze, black with Tea Party no 3. Scene as on saucer but more refined engraving. Additional details; dog sitting centre foreground, distant birds in sky, bottom left signed R.Hancock fecit.
