Woman with Cantaloupe

Woman with Cantaloupe

Robert MacBryde 1913 - 1966

Summary

Cubist, semi-abstract half-length portrait of a woman, seated before a small table with half a cantaloupe melon. She sits turned to the right, awkwardly holding a slice of melon in front of her in both hands. The figure appears to be viewed through various perspectives simultaneously, with block sections of colour contructing the face and background. It is a highly coloured portrait with a muted green and yellow background.
