Alderman Sir Thomas Baker
Susan Isabel Dacre 1844 - 1933
Summary
Three quarter left side portrait of Alderman Sir Thomas Baker, an elderly man with a long white beard, seated against a background of rows of books. He is wearing a double-breasted red coat that is undone, there is little precise detailing on the coat, the artist preferring to create an impression on the coat using exaggerated brushwork. The lines defining the outline of the coat are rather sketchy. In contrast the face is highly detailed.
