Summary

Shirt style blouse or jacket in soft cotton muslin, with bold black and cream zebra print alternating with bands of black and white polkdots at cuffs, collar and fronts; single breasted with 7 pearl buttons; woven label cbneck 'Lanvin, Paris' and printed Lanvin motif on left sleeve near cuff. The jacket was worn by a Mrs Xena Franklin who had a long association with couture, having been dressed by Worth of London when a young woman and having known well one of the vendeuse at Dior, London. After the war her husband was based at the British Embassy in Paris and she was lent dresses by Lanvin, Schiaparelli and Dior for formal functions, and then allowed to buy them at the end of the season. She got married in Jacques Fath.
