Summary

Public: A pair of candlesticks with baluster stem and a round base divided by flutes into six lobes and fitted with loose circular nozzles with scalloped rims. Enamel on metal and painted in colours on three of the lobes around the base with panels of figures in landscapes and three with panels of flowers, the stem is painted with four panels of classical landscapes; all panels are within gilt scroll borders on a white ground decorated with blue, turquoise and gilt patterns on a white ground. One on display. Private: A pair of candlesticks with baluster stem and a round base divided by flutes into six lobes and fitted with loose circular nozzles with scalloped rims, fitted with a plain metal mount to the top of the stem, and chased mounts to the centre of the stem and around the base. Enamel on metal and painted in colours. Three of the lobes around the base are painted with scenes depicting a lady and gentleman seated or reclining in a landscape setting, within gilt scroll borders; the other three lobes are painted with flowers and the six dividing flutes being coloured alternatively dark blue and turquoise adorned with stars and rosettes within a trellis design in white enamel. A turquoise band divides the base from the stem which is painted with four panels of classifical landscapes in gilt scroll borders divided by blue dots on the white ground. The nozzles are painted with flowers direct on the white ground.
