Summary
White cotton with part of front and cuffs of linen; narrow shoulder yoke of double thickness; front in one section opening to waist with box-pleat from base of opening; stiffened linen section applied each side of opening covering outside and inside with fold at edge of opening, forming oval centre front panel; narrow neckband with holes for studs at centre front and centre back, holes for stud half way down opening; back in one section gathered to yoke at centre; back slightly longer than front, both curving up at sides; long sleeves in one section with opening in seam fastening pearl button, gathered at outer wrist to stiffened linen cuff with holes for links; marked in red cross stitch at base of opening: WA. Worn by Mr William Anderson (donor's husbnad's uncle, d.1898, aged 40).
