Summary

A horse and groom stand in the grounds of Platt Hall, Manchester. The saddled horse is dark in colour with a docked tail, and is being held by the reins by a groom standing at its head, there is also a small dog at the groom's feet. Platt Hall is visible in the background on the left. The sky is stormy with dark blues predominating the upper section of the sky, whilst the landscape looks barron with many brown tones. Dramatic shadows are cast by the figures in the fireground.
