Summary
Tall globular teapot on narrow foot, with shor straight neck, short tapering spout and long rounded loop handle. Applied relief decoration to either side, seven flowering stems emerging from central stem. Shallow domed cover with flattened rim and tapering knop finial pierced through centre. Applied stamped relief decoration of three exotic birds positioned around central finial.

Slipcast red stoneware teapot circa 1695 David Elers and John Philip Elers, Staffordshire The Elers brothers were Dutch silversmiths who settled in Staffordshire and became skilled and influential potters. Their teapots were strongly inspired by Chinese Zisha and Yixing teapots. Purchased 1964.95
