dress & jacket
Yves Saint Laurent for Dior 1958 - 1960
Summary
Dark green Prince of Wales checked wool dress and jacket; short sleeved dress with broadly pleated skirt and button detailing to shoulders; matching single breasted jacket with 2 buttons and velvet collar; separate belt. Labelled 'Boutique de Christian Dior'. Belonged to Diane Kirk Blundell, a model, who married David Field, 2nd Earl Beatty in December 1959, aged only 18. In the first years of her marriage she regularly travelled to Paris for the couture shows, buying mostly Balenciaga and Dior (see 2011.46 for a yellow Dior 1965 suit). After Lord Beattie's death, she remarried in 1973 and became Lady Nutting.
