Maxi summer cocktail dress in pale lilac linen with a white linen underdress; sleeveless, with narrow shoulder straps; wide round neckline; darts under arms and seams cf, cb and sides; lilac overdress caught up (polonaised) in loops at hem in four places, either side cf and cb; woven label 'Joyce Ridings, 12'. Presented by the maker after the retrospective show at the Gallery (May-Aug 2011). From the Joyce Ridings SS 2011 collection and with a retail price of £325. Joyce Ridings has a commitment to natural fibres, and especially to pure Irish linen. This dress, with its caught hem and airy colours, is a play on the elements, as if it is billowing in a gentle breeze.
