Ossie Clark 1942 - 1996

Summary

Long evening dress in off white moss crepe, worn as a wedding gown; long full bishop sleeves ending in button cuffs; long rounded collar; fitted bias-cut shaping to bodice; woven label, brown on cream, cb neck "Ossie Clark for Radley" The Ossie Clark for Radley label began in 1968. Bought by donor (Judy Robinson, nee Dorken) as her wedding dress. Purchased at an Oxford St boutique in London (probably Topaz) in spring 1973. Judy disliked tradition wedding dresses and liked this Ossie dress on sight. She married John Robinson at the Wesley Chapel at Leigh on Sea in Essex on 18 August 1973 with 70 guests. She wore this dress with white flip flops and carried a small bouquet of daisies. After a honeymoon in Jersey, the couple moved directly to Moss Side in Manchester.
