Bus Pier, Putney
Summary
A landscape view of a deserted bus pier on the Thames at Putney, seen from the opposite side of the road through bare coppiced trees. It is a dusk scene; glowing lights can be seen beyond the river, the scene appears to be lit by moonlight given the grey and silver tones prominent in the painting. The branches of the trees are strangely illuminated with firey orange buds and flashes; the stalks appear to be aflame. Orange light is cast by this mysterious feature across the sky, the wet ground, and the river.
