Summary

Public: Circular dinner plate with a deep well and curved rim with undulating six-lobed edge. Pale cream earthenware body, transfer printed in overglaze in black with a circular medallion containing a rural landscape. Private: Circular dinner plate with deep well, curved rim with undulating six-lobed edge and no footring. Transfer-printed in overglaze black with circular medallion containing rural landscape, comprising cattle and sheep by a pond in foreground with herdsman beneath tree to right, farmhouse in background to left before distant hill. Printed beaded border enclosed by elaborate scrollwork, five floral sprigs to rim interrupted by inscription 'JOHN PETER AND ANN DU PORT, GUERNSEY, 1786'. Pale cream coloured earthenware body with fine, slightly black-speckled glaze, four patch stilt marks to underside.
