Equestrian Statue of Henri IV, Paris

Raoul Dufy 1877 - 1953

Summary

A brightly coloured view of a Parisian square with black and green equestrian statue of Henri IV in the centre, surmounting a bright, white pedestal. There are houses and trees to the right, and an office building in background to the left. There is a green and black trellis fence pattern obscuring the viewer's view across the foreground, with an abandoned horse carriage (or barrow) in the bottom left corner. It is painted in bold, solid colours, and the artist has exaggerated the various fading colours of the sky with broad brushstrokes of various shades of blue.
