Summary
Waisted three sided floor-candlestick in beaten copper and parcel gilt. The waisted three sided plinth standing on three scrolled feet from which rises a balustre shaped shaft supporting a shallow vase-shaped drip pan. The escutcheon on the plinth of the Royal (Stuart) Arms surmounted by a prince's closed coronet and a cardinal's hat. The escutcheon and alternate mouldings gilded on a dull bronze coloured field. Escutcheon for Henry, Cardinal Duke of York, Younger brother of Charles, The Young Pretender. Candlestick therefore made between 1747 when Henry received his Cardinal's hat, and 1766 when his father died.
