Summary

Public: Figure of a boy in large armchair reading a book. White earthenware with a pearlware glaze, painted in red, yellow, black and purple overglaze enamels. Private: Figure of young boy seated in high armchair with a book held in his left hand, feet resting on small frilled mat. Dress comprises red jacket, white shirt with black spots, yellow breeches and black shoes, armchair painted in red, book in orange and black, mat frill picked out in purple. Rounded rectangular base with single brown band, interrupted at front by impressed title 'A GOOD BOY' picked out in black, and at back by relief scroll impressed 'SALT'. Fine pearlware glaze.
