Summary

Public: Ovoid jug with cylindrical neck and inset lip, white earthenware with pearlware glaze, transfer-printed in overglaze black with rural scenes, embellished with metallic silver lustre and red enamel floral sprays and dated inscription. Private: Ovoid jug of white earthenware with pearlware glaze tapering to everted foot, with cylindrical neck, inset lip and plain loop handle. Side to left of handle printed in overglaze black with young man standing in a garden, beside large medallion inscribed 'SUCCESS to the LINEN TRADE'. Side to right of handle printed with young shepherd standing beneath tree, with sheepdog and two lambs. Rest of body painted in overglaze red enamel and metallic silver lustre, with scrolling flowering leafy stems and inscription beneath lip, reading 'Thos & Ann / Pool / 1811'. Neck painted wtih border of silver lustre semi-circles and red feathers, within red enamel bands, single red band to foot, red floral motifs to handle. Finely crazed glaze.
