Summary

Black felt hat and homburg. Black gros grain ribbon, high crown with a dip in the centre.The brim is stiff and curves up at the edges, the edge of the brim is bound with black gros grain ribbon, machine stitched along the edges. The hat band is also gros grain with a large flat sewn-in bow on the left side. Lining - dirty cream/grey satin with a seam around the top of the crown. Brown leather inner band sewn in, rather greasy. Labels - coat of arms and " Best English Manufacture " in centre of crown, and felt hatters and trimmers union label inside band. A strip of newspaper has been put inside the band.
